Fundraising

My fundraising efforts have been going great! Recently, I sold Duffeyrolls to friends and family. They are delicious and everyone seems to love them. Also, I have hosted a "Parents Night Out" with Tabor, Jack, Kassie, and Nina.  This night wouldn't have been possible without the help from all of our parents. They provided snacks, pizza, games, and their time to this fun filled night. Thank you to those who came and supported us.  As a group we made $380!! For my relatives and friends who are not able to attend these events, I have a letter campaign that allows people to read about what I am doing and how they may donate if they choose.

In the next couple of months leading up to my trip, there will be a few more fundraisers as of now. For my trip only, two of my family friends have offered to host me an event at Urban Nails near Sports Authority in Avon. This will be held on the afternoon of Sunday January 23, 2011. More details to follow!!I

Also, please mark your calendar for February 1st, 2011 at Zacca Za for our groups major fundraiser. We will let you know when ticket sales begin.

Visit http://childrensglobalalliance.blogspot.com/ to make a donation through the secure PayPal account. You can also learn more about Lisa-Marie Howell here and read  her past journeys. Make sure you put my name in the memo line so it goes to me.

Thank you for all your support to date! Happy Holidays!

The Day I Was Chosen

On October 29, 2010, after writing a letter to and having a personal interview with Lisa-Marie Howell, founder of Children's Global Alliance - describing my desire to travel to Cambodia and work in an orphanage - I WAS CHOSEN!  4 other students were chosen to travel on this mission.(Tabor,Jack,Kassie, Nina)  I shed tears of excitement and could not have been happier with the outcome and this opportunity of a lifetime.

From the time I learned of this mission to a Cambodian Orphanage, I began researching the customs, culture and exactly what to expect while working in this country.  While overall I am very excited, I still am nervous at times.  Being away from my family may be the toughest part for me.  But, SKYPE and the company of the orphaned children will surely help me overcome this.  This experience will defintely be a life changer.  I cannot wait to meet my new Cambodian family members.  Lisa-Marie speaks to highly of them all!

I am required to raise $1000 to help fund my travel expenses for this mission.  There will be several fund raising opportunities for both me and my fellow classmates who are also traveling to Cambodia.  In addition, we will be hosting one major event for this mission.  As more details are available, I will post.  Stay tuned!
